Bed

Friday 30th May, 2008

I went to bed for the first time since my husband died. It was weird. I awoke very late, disorientated and wondering where I was. But honestly, I feel better for going to bed. Simple sleep. So, I am going to formulate a plan. Bed by 10.00 pm, mug of Horlicks, and maybe a book. It’s about time I got my act together. Having said that, part of depression is making these plans - but it’s putting them into practice that is the problem. Like now for instance. I am supposed to be doing the housework, and boy does it need doing! However, procrastination (?grammar)  has set in and I am on the settee with the dogs cuddled up to me, writing on my blog! Does anyone have the phone number for Kim and Aggie?

The weather has been so horrid, it was so windy on Monday that my garden ended up in next door’s garden! I hope the summer comes back soon as it is so cold. Since Archie has been clipped he keeps shivering and he has had to have his little coat on again. Crazy weather.

Anyhoo you crazy people…I’m going to attempt to do some washing and drying because I’ve run out of clothes!

Dylan

Thursday 29th May, 2008

My brilliant Labrador! I am going to boast how wonderful he is! He passes me the remote control, and if the telephone is ringing he brings it to one of us to answer. He loves fetching the post in from the front door, and will fetch the newspaper too! If I ask him to “fetch shoe” he will bring me shoes - not necessarily a matching pair but I don’t think he cares which shoes you want as his dress sense is not very vogue - you just get shoes, matching or not! Also, he will take your socks off when asked, he doesn’t mind if you have stinky feet - the smellier the better as far as he is concerned. He will bring items upstairs, or downstairs if you ask him to! Maybe I should re-name him Jeeves! Dylan is brilliant! I love you so much Dyl! xxx

Thank You!

Thursday 29th May, 2008

A huge thank you to the lovely people who have donated to our Just Giving Appeal for the June Hancock Mesothelioma Research Fund, in memory of Peter. I am so chuffed! I just checked the page because I had another E-mail, and so THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!

Flickr Account

Saturday 24th May, 2008

Waaah! I have used up all my space on my Flickr account…the question is do I pay to upgrade? Hmmm…I will get back on this one! Carly has a new camera, Nikon 60DX - I am green with envy! I use Cannon, and have an EOS350D. I would like the Cannon EOS450D, but cannot justify spending the money!

I have just had to buy a newish car as Peter’s company car had to be returned to the leasing pool. Peter’s company were brilliant though and let us have the use of it while he was off ill. Like I said in previous blogs, I cannot thank his company enough for everything they did for us.

Anyhooooo! Upgrade/not upgrade - that is the question?! Flickr account AND camera! LOL!

Take care you crazy guys. I’m off out to take photos while the sun is shining!

Mesothelioma and Me

Friday 23rd May, 2008

I have just found this lovely website/blog written by a lady called Debbie who is a mesothelioma sufferer. Debbie has been featured in the media and is trying different approaches with her treatments concerning mesothelioma. I have found Debbie’s site to be very informative and only wish I had not buried my head in the sand concerning the Internet when Peter was diagnosed. I used the Internet to research stuff about mesothelioma, but only found stuff that literally scared the pants off us. I think we both were in denial and I have not heard about half the things Debbie has found out. Also, we did not read anything in the media or watch TV programmes, again probably due to our denial. Anyway, I am linking my website to Debbie’s and you can click on the link in Meso Resources or HERE!

Best Wishes are sent to Debbie and her family, and please feel free to visit here and post your comments whenever you like!

Disabled Parking

Wednesday 21st May, 2008

We went to the supermarket to buy some provisions, and we saw a woman take advantage of the disabled parking spaces. This person was not disabled, and did not display a disabled sticker. I was quite enraged at this blatant show of bad manners and selfishness.

Why should this be of concern to me? Well my husband, battled with cancer, and NEVER once parked his car for his own convenience in a disabled spot. Indeed, although registered disabled he did not apply for a blue badge. He managed to walk slowly and took lots of stops to get his breath. I got him a wheelchair but he HATED using it - I think it was an image thing! Although the times I persuaded him to go in it, he agreed it saved him energy and enabled him to have short shopping trips without using all of his energy up for the day.

Happy Birthday to Joe! 21 Today!

Happy Birthday to my wonderful son Joseph! 21 Today! Many happy returns my son, your Dad would be very proud of you, as I am! Lots and lots of love from your mum! xxx

Stuff To Do!

Saturday 17th May, 2008

It’s been ages since I posted…sorry ’bout that…I have been busy, well I have not been busy but the workmen have!

First of all I had a new driveway fitted by DERBYSHIRE DRIVEWAYS, Tel 01332-824688. The driveway looks lovely, and I am very pleased! Then I had a new burglar alarm fitted by BULLDOG INTRUDER DETECTION SYSTEMS LIMITED.

I’ve been out for a couple of hours and the alarm went off…so I’m probably not flavour of the month with the neighbours! So apologies to all my neighbours for the noise…I must read the manual before I go out and set the alarm properly in future. Teething problems!

Archie, the miniature schnauzer has been clipped…and now he is very cold since the sun went back in again, so he has a jumper on! Dylan thinks he looks stupid!

I am trying to get all the jobs done round the house and have started to do some gardening, there is such a lot of rubbish to get rid of! I like gardening, and want to know more about plants…thank goodness for the Internet!

Better now!

Tuesday 06th May, 2008

All better now, so that is good.
Twisted ankle, so that is bad.
Went to Sherwood Forest with dogs, so that is good.
Still depressed, so that is bad.

Oh well, at least the sun is shining…

Poorly Me!

Sunday 04th May, 2008

I have not been on this website in a few days because I have been poorly. Ouch, ouch, ouch. I have had an infection of my bladder, and also I twisted my ankle. Both are sore, but getting better. Anyhoo, that is all I have to say about being ill except its horrid, and I was sick twice.

I am not normally sick, however, if poor Peter felt like that, then I feel so sorry for him. He must have felt awful on the drugs, as well as being sick. I am missing him so much. Sorry but this post is as boring and depressing as the last…

I want a holiday so badly, that as soon as I am well, I am packing up my van and my dog etc., and I am escaping to the wild blue yonder…wherever that may be. Peace and quiet…that is what I am prescribing myself! No telephones, no housework (ugh, I despise housework), and just being able to please myself…selfish I know, but I need to heal myself before I can be of use to anyone else.
